  1. I am a bit confused about this remuneration threshold. Can you clarify how is it exactly related to the points (160) required for the SMC residence visa application? Reason for asking is that some of my friends are under the impression that once you secure an skilled work as per ANZSCO list and you meet 160 points, RENUMERATION WOULD NO LONGER BE REQUIRED (???). Can you enlighten me on this please?

    1. Hi Dennis, in August 2017 Immigration made changes to instructions both for Skilled Migrant Category Residence (SMC) and Essential Skills Work Visas. The changes included the introduction of a remuneration threshold to improve the assessment of skill and value to NZ. Consequently for SMC 160 points are still required to be selected from the pool and any job / job offer must also meet the relevant remuneration threshold linked to the ANZSCO skill level.
      Hope this helps, Jenny
